I’ve never written alone.

Sure, I’ve written by myself at desks, tabletops, or my go-to spot: the chaise chair in my living room. But every piece of writing, including this About page, was co-created with the authors I’ve read, the writing style I refine, and the people I share my writing with.

And while the reciprocal back and forth persists in what I think and how I write, who I write for and who I write with, the exchange creates and challenges.

Sometimes education and experience makes writing harder—
you know too much. Even though my writing matured in my college and grad school courses, at public and private sector jobs, finding my way back to how I sound, my style, that strengthens how we’ll write and read together, is not without its struggles.

But I’m here to take what’s hard about writing and turn it into something full of heart: for readers and neighbors in my own backyard and beyond.
